TSB Conducts Training on Improved Sisal Farming at Haya Modern Agriculture
The Tanzania Sisal Board (TSB) has provided training on improved sisal farming practices to managers and staff of Haya Modern Agriculture Farm located in Korogwe District, Tanga Region. The training is part of TSB’s strategy to ensure that the sisal sector achieves higher productivity while adhering to best agricultural practices.
While leading the training, the Head of Sisal Development, Mr. Simon Kibasa, provided guidance on land preparation, selection of quality planting materials, planting methods, common diseases affecting sisal, and harvest planning.
Speaking after the training, the Farm Manager of Haya Modern Agriculture, Mr. Yusufu Bilali, stated that the knowledge gained would serve as a catalyst for improving farming operations, particularly in proper land preparation and the correct use of quality planting materials.
“Previously, we considered planting materials simply as seeds without paying attention to their quality. However, from the knowledge we have gained today, our future cultivation and planting will be more precise and effective,” said Mr. Bilali.
TSB continues to provide training to various stakeholders in the sisal sector across the country as part of ongoing efforts to develop this strategic crop.
